Understanding Subconscious Belief Systems & Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Posted on November 24 2020
Our subconscious mind is much more powerful than we often believe. It controls many of our behavior patterns, emotions, beliefs and fears. Understanding our subconscious mind and belief systems is key to making changes in our daily lives.
Our subconscious mind was slowly programmed through what we have experienced since birth and even before birth! It’s programmed by which of our needs were or were not met throughout our lives or if a need was triggered. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs breaks down human needs, when oftentimes if not met, results in subconscious belief systems that we carry throughout our lives.
The pyramid below breaks down each section of needs. The lowest need on the pyramid has to be met prior to meeting the need above it. The goal is to eventually reach the state of self-actualization which can only be met once all needs below it have been satisfied. This is the point where one can truly thrive and can no longer be held back from our past or our subconscious programming.
If you have experienced some of the unmet needs from this pyramid you likely have subconscious programming that is affecting your daily life. The good news is, reprogramming is possible if you put in the work! Some options of reprogramming these belief systems include: hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming, reparenting or inner child work and meditation. Becoming aware of what needs were or were not met is key to creating a plan to reaching a healthy state of self-actualization!
